SES-I West Facility Arrival/Departure Procedures

This procedure applies to all helicopters arriving and departing the SES-I West Facility.

PPR Required - All military and civilian aircraft requesting to arrive or depart from the SES-I facility must have a PPR number. Please e-mail SES-I Flight Operations to request a PPR Form or click here to download the form in Excel spreadsheet format..

Prototype Integration Facility (PIF)

Looking South, this is the preferred landing direction.

  • All Take-off and Landing must be made to the Helipad.
  • The preferred Landing direction is South and North is the preferred Take-off direction.
  • Fuel Available: Contract fuel available via Executive Air (256) 828-1403.

Arrival Aircraft:

  1. Obtain Huntsville ATIS information prior to calling Huntsville Approach.
  2. Contact Huntsville Approach prior to entering Class C airspace, stating position, altitude, and a request to land at the Dunlop Helipad.
  3. When Pad is in sight, inform Huntsville Approach or Tower.

Pilots are expected to navigate to the pad on their own, paralleling the 18L/36R extended final by approximately 1 to 2 miles and no further east than 2 miles. Remain clear of the restricted area.

 

Departing Aircraft:

  1. Obtain Huntsville ATIS information prior to calling Huntsville Tower.
  2. Call Huntsville Tower prior to departure and request departure to the North or South.
  3. Pilots should only expect to depart to the North or South.
  4. Pilots shall remain clear of the restricted area at all times.

It is the Pilot's responsibility to remain clear of the restricted area and no closer to the Huntsville Airport than the Dunlop Helipad.
